June 1 to 7, 2026 marks Alberta Seniors’ Week, a time to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions seniors make to our families, neighbourhoods, and communities.
This year is particularly special as Alberta celebrates the 40th anniversary of Seniors’ Week. Since 1986, this annual celebration has recognized the important role seniors play in shaping strong, vibrant, and connected communities across the province.
At Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch, we see firsthand the positive impact seniors have on community well-being. Seniors are volunteers, mentors, community builders, advocates, caregivers, and trusted neighbours who help foster safer and more welcoming communities for everyone.
Throughout the year, Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch works with seniors, community leagues, partner organizations, and residents to promote safety, encourage social connection, and support initiatives that help seniors remain engaged and informed.
Seniors’ Week is an opportunity for all of us to express our appreciation for the generations who have helped build our communities and continue to enrich them through their knowledge, experience, and dedication.
We encourage everyone to take time this week to connect with the seniors in their lives, whether through a visit, phone call, community event, or simple act of kindness.
On behalf of Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch, thank you to Alberta’s seniors for your leadership, wisdom, service, and ongoing contributions to our communities.
Happy Alberta Seniors’ Week 2026.
