Walk Your Block Week 2024

August 18 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 pm

We are thrilled to invite you to participate in the Walk Your Block Week taking place from Sunday, August 18, 2024 to Saturday, August 24, 2024. This event is all about coming together as a community to enhance neighbourhood safety and foster a sense of unity.

What is Walk Your Block Week?

Walk Your Block Week encourages residents across Edmonton to take a stroll or jog around their neighbourhoods, get to know their surroundings, identify and report suspicious activities properly. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with your neighbours, improve community awareness, and contribute to making our neighbourhoods safer for everyone.

Why Participate?

Participating in Walk Your Block Week has several benefits. Some of these benefits include:

  • Build and foster community connections
  • Increased visibility and engagement reduce crime.
  • By familiarizing yourself with your neighbourhood, you can better recognize when something is amiss and know exactly who to contact.
  • Stay fit and mentally alert

How to Participate

  • Promote Walk Your Block Week: Share information about the event with your community league, neighbours and friends, on social media, newsletters and community boards.
  • Organize Local Walks: Encourage your neighbours to organize and participate in neighbourhood walks during the Walk Your Block Week.
  • Host an Event: Plan a community event or gathering to coincide with Walk Your Block Week, such as a neighbourhood meet-up or safety workshop.

While walking, send photos/videos of yourself, walking groups or local landmarks in your community via email or tag us on social media using the hashtag for a chance to win a prize
