September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, honoring the children who never came home and Survivors of residential schools (Canada.ca).
This day is an important reminder of the dark history that continues to impact the lived experiences of those directly affected, their families, and communities. Wearing orange on this day reminds us of the unjust treatment of the children who had their culture, freedom, and right to self expression taken from them for generations.
ENW supports the ongoing reconciliation process by working hard to understand the needs of Indigenous peoples’ in Edmonton and the surrounding area. The First Peoples’ of Canada contribute to the diversity and strength of our communities, without whom we would not be here today.
